Boyfriend prefers fans’ love to money according to their Lunar New Year greetings
Boyfriend cheerfully greeted fans for Lunar New Year through a special video!
Boyfriend showed their excitement by singing along to the Korean traditional song for the new year. The boys thanked fans for their love with hand hearts and asked fans to anticipate their future activities.
The members also gave their wish for fans to focus on spending time with their families as well as thinking about Boyfriend. They finished off the video by hilariously asking fans to give them love instead of new year money.

Boyfriend to transform into a band for ‘Hello Baby’
Boyfriend will be transforming into a band on the upcoming episode of ‘Hello Baby‘!
On the episode that will be broadcast on the 25th, Boyfriend will be teaming up with the KBS 2TV ‘Top Band‘ winners TOXIC
to learn more about becoming a band. The members will be performing
children’s songs for the babies they are taking care of on the program
to create even more special memories.
Donghyun will be on the keyboard, Minwoo will be on the drums, Jeongmin
on the guitar, and the rest as vocal and rap. The members will also
have a 3-on-3 freestyle dance battle to TOXIC’s music. Leader Donghyun’s
dance is said to have especially brought about laughter on set.
The episode will air on January 25th, 11PM KST, so stay tuned!

Boyfriend releases dance practice video for “I Yah”
The video was released through Starship Entertainment‘s official Youtube channel.
The members are all dressed in casual clothing, but show off a powerful
choreography. The point choreography where they slide their hand down
their body is especially bringing in an incredible number of click views
to the video. The choreography for “I Yah” is done by the team Free
Mind.
Fans commented, “This is the sexiest choreography I have seen“, “Boyfriend is so masculine now“, “Boyfriend is really sexy with this song“, and “It’s like seeing Rain’s choreography for ‘Rainism’.”

Boyfriend’s music video for “I Yah” stirs controversy
Boyfriend‘s music video for “I Yah” has been swept up in controversy as netizens debate whether or not the music video is promoting violence.
The music video was directed by Zany Bros, who also filmed INFINITE-H‘s “Fly High“, Girls’ Generation‘s “I Got A Boy“, SECRET‘s “Talk That“,
and much more. “I Yah” tells the story of an innocent school love
story, and has been gaining much love because of its sweet story.
However, some are criticizing the music video because it glamorizes
school violence and students skipping school. Viewers commented, “The video looks nice, but it’s beautifying school violence“, “It looks like they’re supporting students skipping school and the dangerous motorcycle scenes isn’t helping matters“, and “This may have a negative influence on the youth“.
Others have argued that it’s just a music video and that some people are looking too much into it.
Even though there were many instances of music videos portraying
school violence and youth riding on motorcycles, it seems that netizens
are more sensitive about the subject of school violence because of the
high popularity of the currently-running drama ‘School 2013‘.

Boyfriend releases Hyunseong and Donghyun’s teaser for comeback
The photo was released through Starship Entertainment‘s Twitter with the message, “The second photo for Boyfriend’s comeback! Hyunseong & Donghyun~~!!! Please look forward to Boyfriend’s new image on January 10th~!!!.
As the boys recently finished up promotions for “Janus“, fans were surprised to hear that another comeback was in store. However, as “Janus” was a huge hit for them, their next track is much anticipated as well.
Boyfriend will be releasing a repackaged album on January 10th KST.

Boyfriend sells outs out all 12,500 seats for their Japanese solo concert
Boyfriend sold out all 5 shows for their live “Love Communication 2012 ~XMAS BELL~” Japanese concert.
Boyfriend held 5 concerts at the Tokyo Dome City Hall from December 22nd to 24th. Each of the 5 showings for the concert sold out completely, totaling to 12,500 fans in all.
Their label Starship Entertainment said, “They sold out all 5 of their Christmas Live Concert shows, and every seat was sold out within 10 minutes“. Even though the group debuted in Japan less than a year ago, they boast of incredible popularity in Japan.
Japanese music experts stated, “Boyfriend’s Japanese activities are very noticeable among the sea of K-Pop idols. It’s not easy to sell out a venue like the Tokyo Dome City Hall 5 times for a group that just debuted.”
Boyfriend expressed, “We spent a joyous time with our fans for our first solo concert. We’re always thankful for the love we receive, and we will be a Boyfriend who continues to work hard and striving to be the best.”

Boyfriend forced to halt their free hug event due to overcrowding of fans
Boyfriend was forced to stop their ‘Free Hug Event’
On the 18th, Boyfriend planned to have a Free Hug Event in Myungdong.
However, more than 1,000 fans showed up as soon as the event started,
and the boys were forced to relocate. However, just as many fans showed
up at the changed location, and the event was forced to a stop due for
safety reasons.
Starship Entertainment explained, “We planned
the event because Boyfriend wanted to give back to the fans who always
give them strength. However, more people than we expected showed up.
We’re disappointed that we had to cancel the event for the fans’ safety.
Next time, we’ll come back with something better.”
Boyfriend is currently promoting “Janus“, which gained the #1 spot on the Hanteo Charts.

Boyfriend’s Hyunseong impresses with his six pack abs
Starship Entertainment tweeted on the 15th, “We’re unveiling the abs of Boyfriend’s Hyunseong who lost 5kg [~11 lbs.] for this album! He really became ‘Janus‘^^ How is it? Please show a lot of love for Boyfriend’s ‘Janus’”, along with the photo.
The photo shows Hyunseong displaying his hard-earned six pack that is
sure to make the ladies look twice, and fits in perfectly with their
new manly and charismatic image for their ‘Janus’ comeback.

Boyfriend unveils “Janus” MV + 1st full length album
After releasing two sets of teaser photos and a video teaser, Boyfriend has finally let loose their anticipated 1st full length album, ‘Janus‘!
The title track, also titled “Janus”, is the work of hit producing team Sweetune, and is designed to show Boyfriend in way you’ve never seen them before.
The boys have set aside the pastels and flowers to come back with a more manly and charismatic concept this time around to “show you a charisma that is different from other ordinary manly concepts through their stage.”

Boyfriend releases concept photo for Hyunseong
After announcing their comeback, Boyfriend has unveiled the individual cut of member Hyunseong this time!
The photo was posted along with the message, “The fifth teaser image! It’s HyunSeong! JANUS~!”
The group has been releasing photos for their ‘Janus’ theme
as well as other individual album jacket pictures over the course of
the week, doubling the amount of anticipation for the group’s comeback.
As mentioned previously, the boys will be setting aside the pastels
and flowers to come back with a more manly and charismatic concept this
time around.

Boyfriend releases Hyunseong’s 1st album teaser photo
Boyfriend announced their return to the K-pop scene with a group teaser photo
earlier today. The agency described the photo as the ‘Janus’ pictorial,
possibly referring to the mythological Roman god of beginnings and
transitions.
Starship Entertainment revealed to allkpop that fans will be able to “meet
a Boyfriend you’ve never seen before. Boyfriend will show you a
charisma that is different from other ordinary manly concepts through
their stage.”

Boyfriend’s high touch event gathers 48,000 fans + debut singles tops Oricon daily
Boyfriend, who recently released their debut Japanese single, ‘Be My Shine‘, on August 22nd, held two high touch events in Tokyo and Osaka that brought in a total of 48,000 fans!
Held at the ‘Big Sight’ on the 25th and the ‘Intex Osaka’ on the 26th, Starship Entertainment informed allkpop that the events brought in 30,000 and 18,000 fans respectively. Boyfriend expressed, “We see that a lot of our girlfriends came today. Let’s have fun together starting now!”
Several fans were spotted shedding tears of joy over being able to
meet the boys in person among the crowd of sscreaming fans. Following
the high touch event, Boyfriend held their special fan meet ‘First Date
Tokyo/Osaka’ in celebration of the launch of their official Japanese
fanclub, where they performed “Be My Shine” and “Boyfriend“.
In response to their fans’ cheers, Boyfriend stated, “We were
surprised at all of the support shown today. We want to create more
opportunities for us to meet like this in the future. We’ll continue to
work hard and show improvement for everyone.”
Compared to any other K-Pop artist promoting in Japan, officials
noticed that Boyfriend had the highest amount of teen fans. Junior high
school student Aina (13) and high school student Mayu (17) stated, “I was also at their showcase in June”, and “The
members are all handsome and sing well, so I think they’ll be a
success. The hard work they showed in learning Japanese makes me want to
learn Korean as well.”
Riding on the boys’ success, Boyfriend also found out that their debut single had charted first on the Oricon daily singles chart on the 25th. The single had ranked in at fourth on the day of its release while topping other charts like Tower Records, HMV, and Shinseido, before finally rising to the top on the Oricon.
