Boyfriend, who recently released their debut Japanese single, ‘Be My Shine‘, on August 22nd, held two high touch events in Tokyo and Osaka that brought in a total of 48,000 fans!
Held at the ‘Big Sight’ on the 25th and the ‘Intex Osaka’ on the 26th, Starship Entertainment informed allkpop that the events brought in 30,000 and 18,000 fans respectively. Boyfriend expressed, “We see that a lot of our girlfriends came today. Let’s have fun together starting now!”
Several fans were spotted shedding tears of joy over being able to
meet the boys in person among the crowd of sscreaming fans. Following
the high touch event, Boyfriend held their special fan meet ‘First Date
Tokyo/Osaka’ in celebration of the launch of their official Japanese
fanclub, where they performed “Be My Shine” and “Boyfriend“.
In response to their fans’ cheers, Boyfriend stated, “We were
surprised at all of the support shown today. We want to create more
opportunities for us to meet like this in the future. We’ll continue to
work hard and show improvement for everyone.”
Compared to any other K-Pop artist promoting in Japan, officials
noticed that Boyfriend had the highest amount of teen fans. Junior high
school student Aina (13) and high school student Mayu (17) stated, “I was also at their showcase in June”, and “The
members are all handsome and sing well, so I think they’ll be a
success. The hard work they showed in learning Japanese makes me want to
learn Korean as well.”
Riding on the boys’ success, Boyfriend also found out that their debut single had charted first on the Oricon daily singles chart on the 25th. The single had ranked in at fourth on the day of its release while topping other charts like Tower Records, HMV, and Shinseido, before finally rising to the top on the Oricon.
