Hong Gi of FT Island makes his screen debut, saying, “I couldn’t sleep well on the day before the preview”

“I couldn’t sleep well last night!” said Lee Hong Gi of FTIsland, having just made his screen debut. He said his excitement after the preview held at Lotte Cinema on May 21 accounted for his sleeplessness.

Lee says: “Because it’s my first movie, I feel more nervous than when announcing a new album. I was too nervous to sleep well. I asked senior actors about this and they responded that the more previews of your movies you attend, the more nervous you feel. While watching the preview, I felt I’m lacking at acting, but that lack was made up for with the help of the great work of the director and the crew.”

Lee played an “idol” singer in the movie. He says, “When I saw the screenplay for the first time, I thought I couldn’t do it because I had no experience of the knid of hospice where the story takes place, but after reading the screenplay through, I made up my mind to try because I felt like this movie would be important to the rest of my life.”

The movie Good Bye Party is kind of a human drama. The story is about young singer who is sentenced to do community service at a hospice and is deeply disturbed by  spending time with terminally ill patients. The movie is to be released on May 30.

BtoB has the first promotion in Cambodia, doing performances and voluntary services

The group BtoB (Seo Eun Gwang, Lee Min Hyuk, Lee Chang Seob, Lim Hyun Sik, Peniel, Jung Il Hoon, and Yook Sung Jae) successfully ended their first official visit to Cambodia, where they stayed for three days and two nights starting on May 19. According to a May 22 report by their agency, Cube Entertainment, the group held a variety of promotional events such as their first fan meeting in Cambodia, titled BtoB Press Play in Cambodia, at Koh Pich Theatre in Phnom Penh.

The agency says, “Having held a promotional event in Thailand, BtoB received great attention from the local press and moved on to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to hold a fan meeting. About 1,000 people came to the fan meeting, which is an unprecedented number for a rookie group. It is also interesting that almost half of the fans who participated in the fan meeting that day were men. BtoB visited a welfare facility near Phnom Penh on May 20, and left about a hundred children with unforgettable memories by singing songs and distributing snacks to them.”

Leader Seo Eun Gwang gave his impressions, saying, “We were glad to have the opportunity to hold a fan meeting in Cambodia and have a great time with local children. This was our first visit. We hope to have more time to spend together next time.”

BtoB returned to Korea after the fan meetings and volunteer service in Thailand and Cambodia and are going to depart for Malaysia for a concert on May 23.

Lee Hong Gi of FT Island says, “I want to delete those videos on the Internet of me singing off pitch”

Lee Hong Gi appeared on MBC’s Gold Fishery Radio Star on May 22 and related his regrets about an incident from his past: “I want to delete all video clips of my performance at the 2008 Music Awards that are on the Internet, I was singing off pitch.”

His excuse was “I had performed in a concert for three consecutive days before the awards, and I was so sick that day that my bed sheets were soaked with my sweat, which drove my managers crazy. I listened to the sound track for the awards ceremony because the concert left me no time. My agency insisted that I prerecord my voice, but this was rejected by an official of the broadcasting company, so I had no choice but to perform live.”

Yoon Jong Shin said the incident threw audience into utter confusion. Hong responded, saying, “I got off rhythm and was losing my voice. It was a very hard time. Super Junior members sent text messages to cheer me up. Especially, Gang In said, ‘You were the best on stage.’ That was really helpful to me.”

A-PRINCE talks about fanfics, ghosts & One Direction at Singapore interview

DSC_10249
KAvenyou got a chance to interview A-PRINCE after their official press conference for their first ever showcase in Singapore, where we learnt more about their phobias and their fanfiction reading habits. (Yes, A-PRINCE do read fanfiction!)
Q: During the press conference, you all mentioned about local (Korean) artistes that you all wish to collaborate with. What about international artistes?
Sungwon: In regards to collaborating with international artistes, we would like to collaborate with One Direction if we have the opportunity.
DSC_0946
KAvenyou: You guys mentioned on A-PRINCE TV that you all saw a ghost in your old studio. Are you all afraid of ghosts?
Sungwon: Yes, Woobin is the most afraid of ghosts!
KAvenyou: Besides ghosts, what else are you guys afraid of?
Woobin: Oh, pigeons, pigeons! (He exclaimed it twice in Korean and twice in English!)
Q: It has been a year since your debut, so what have you learnt over this one year and what is your greatest accomplishment this year?
Sungwon: We have received a lot of helpful advice from seniors and we have taken them along in our stride, helping to motivate us to become better singers. Our greatest accomplishment so far is our debut, and we hope to achieve more exposure and love from international fans.
DSC_10358
Q: Until now, what is the most memorable gift that you have received from fans?
Siyoon: A portrait of myself.
Seungjun: A very, very big letter!
Sungwon: I received a portrait from a fan in Russia, and I’ve also received a collage of my own pictures.
Q: If you were casted in a movie, what kind of character would you all want to play?
Seungjun: I want to have an action role.
Woobin: I want to be a student who does well in studies.
Sungwon: I want to be a rich person’s son – good-looking and popular!
Minhyuk: I want a role of someone who is poor, but very strong and determined in the face of adverse situations.
Siyoon: I also want to be rich man’s son who is pampered.
DSC_10353
KAvenyou: In an episode of A-PRINCE TV, you guys also mentioned about reading fanfiction. So, do you all read it together or alone by yourself?
Siyoon: Usually one of us (the members) will be browsing through the fanfics, and we will call the others (“Oh hyung!”) to come and read.
Q: Recently Sungwon starred in a musical “Summer Snow”, so how was the experience like and would you like to do another musical again?
Sungwon: I find it very refreshing and challenging as well, because I’m starting from a singer. Although it was tiring, I really enjoyed it. Although I’m promoting singing with A-PRINCE currently, if the opportunity arises, I will be more than happy to take part in another musical.
Q: What kind of role and story will you be interested to act in next time?
Sungwon: The murderer in Jack The Ripper!
DSC_10405
Q: What are the reasons for choosing the artistes that you all wanted to collaborate with (as mentioned earlier during the press conference)?
Siyoon: I admire Se7en’s all-roundedness, because he can sing and dance as well, so I would like to collaborate with him.
Minhyuk: I chose Beenzino, because he is a rapper that I admire a lot.
Sungwon: I wish to collaborate with Jaejoong. He has just released his album recently and I really like the flavour of the album, so I would really like to have a collaboration with him.
Woobin: I wish to have a collaboration with PSY because he is talented and I admire PSY’s energy.
Seungjun: I wish to collaborate with Naul and I hope to have a song that’s more touching.
DSC_10320
Q: What about One Direction (in regards to international collaboration)?
Sungwon: I feel that One Direction has a very similar colour and so we would like to work on stage together.

Lunafly explains Teo’s haircut and their brotherhood with LC9 at Singapore interview

lunafly1
Can’t get enough of Lunafly? KAvenyou is back to bring you more goss and happenings from the trio’s debut showcase in Singapore! We had the opportunity to interview the members following their first official press conference, where we discussed Teo’s recent image change, and their close brotherhood with new and upcoming boy band LC9! Check out the following interview transcript from the short interview session:
Q: We’re from KAvenyou, and we were actually the official media for your Malaysian showcase, so it’s good to see everyone again!
Lunafly: (All) Hi!
lunafly_teo
Q: The last time we saw Teo, he had long hair. What happened?
Teo: Why did I cut my hair? I lost my hair. (Laughs) I wanted to show a new look.
Sam: We’re kind of always looking to show different sides to us, so Teo decided to cut his hair.
Q: So do any of you have plans for future image changes?
Teo: We have really a lot (of plans to do so). We’ll show it to you next time!
Q: Your company just produced a new boy band LC9.
Lunafly: (Immediately) Ah!
lunafly_yun
Q: I think a lot of fans are curious as to whether you guys are close to them, and whether you feel some sort of friendly competition going on between the two boy bands of the group.
Sam: We’re very good friends. These guys, LC9, they’ve been training for three years. I’ve been in (the company) for two years, and for me they’re all like little brothers. I think one if them is like 16? They’re all like brothers to me, and we live together, and we see each other all the time. Friendly competition…
Teo: Rather than viewing them as rivals, I hope we do well together.
Sam: Yeah, I think because our styles are so different. They’re singing and dancing idols, so it’s hard to say that we are rivals. We’re going on the same journey, and we (Lunafly) just happened to come out a little bit earlier than them.
lunafly_sam
Q: So did you give them any tips?
Teo: Rather than tips, we just shared our experiences with them. We also trained and prepared together. Since we are close, we (Lunafly) support them a lot.
Yun: We started out first, so even though my training period was shorter than the LC9 friends, since we appeared on television broadcasts first, we gave them some advice about that.
Sam: The LC9 guys have been practicing longer, they’ve been training for a long time. Yun and Teo are very close with them as well, so we just tell them about our experiences, which could be (regarded as) advice.

A-PRINCE chooses their “chio girl” & dances to PSY at Singapore showcase

aprince1
18 May 2013 – The first ever A-PRINCE Showcase Live in Singapore was held in DBS Arts Centre on the afternoon of 18th May 2013. The showcase begun with You’re The Only One, which was written by MBLAQ’s G.O! The cute boys of A-PRINCE greeted their A-LAND present cheerfully with “Hello lah!”, and did their self-introduction in English!
A-PRINCE continued on with their showcase with their song Oh Girl, before proceeding on to cover TVXQ’s Hug and Mirotic, showing off their sleek dance moves. The host of the day, Ah Ken taught A-PRINCE Singlish phrases such as “chio” and “swee lah!”, which both means pretty. This introduced the next segment of A-PRINCE’s showcase, where the boys themselves gave criteria of their “chio girl”, to be chosen from amongst the audience. The lucky female fans who fit exactly into the criteria that A-PRINCE gave got to go up on stage and fulfill any requests with A-PRINCE, in which they requested individual hugs from the members and group photos with the boys.
sungwon
It was leader Sungwon’s turn to shine on the stage as he showed off his vocal skills during his solo stage performance of a ballad song, M.C The Max’s 가슴아 그만해 (Stop, My Heart). After Sungwon’s soulful solo stage, the rest of the members joined him on stage to perform One Direction’s What Makes Your Beautiful. Sungwon displayed some of his English skills by greeting fans with “Hello, how are you? I’m fine, thank you!” before continuing on to another One Direction’s song, One Thing. The A-PRINCE boys showed off their cheeky side as they hit their butts against one another while dancing to the songs and even jumped off the stage to greet their fans.
woobin
Sungwon and Seungjun remained on stage to answer questions from the host as the other members went backstage to prepare for their next item. They revealed little known facts about themselves and the other members as well, such as their shoe sizes, which member loves taking pictures of flowers (it is Sungwon!) and which member likes collecting caps (Woobin). Under the request and guidance from the fans, the two boys did kwiyomi, making fans scream with each different action they performed.
The other 3 members, Minhyuk, Siyoon and Woobin re-appeared on stage dressed in blinged-out hoodies to perform Puff Daddy’s I’ll Be Missing You. Next up, A-PRINCE performed 3 of their new songs (2 of them titled My Lady and Mambo tentatively) which will be debuting in Korea soon – but lucky A-LAND in Singapore got the opportunity to watch them perform their new songs first! Their dance moves for the new songs showed off even more of A-PRINCE’s cute and boyish charms, as evident from the fans’ excited screams.
aprincecake
International fans’ dedication for the A-PRINCE boys can be seen, as a video created by their international fanbase, Unity of A-PRINCE was shown on screen where A-PRINCE watched together with their fans. Video cuts of fans wishing Woobin happy birthday were shown, followed by the A-PRINCE members’ video messages to Woobin, as well as Seungjun too. Birthday cakes were then brought up onto the stage, where the selected lucky fans celebrated this special moment with the boys on stage. Last but not least, A-PRINCE performed their hit song, Hello, much to the delight of the fans.
aprince3
Any concerts or showcases of course does not end just like that, as A-PRINCE returned to stage after chants of encore from the audience, to perform PSY’s Gangnam Style and Gentleman! The unexpected performances garnered wild cheers from the fans, and this also successfully marked the end of A-PRINCE’s first ever showcase in Singapore. VIP ticket holders were entitled to an individual photo-taking session with A-PRINCE and all ticket holders were also entitled to A-PRINCE’s fansign session right after the showcase, where they got to interact with their favourite boys upclose.
