Roh Ji Hoon & Eric Nam, aka ‘BROTHER19′, perform “Ma Girl”

Roh Ji Hoon and Eric Nam, who had fans hyped up with their hints on their collaboration, took to the stage on ‘Birth of A Great Star 3‘ to become ‘BROTHER19′, or should we say ‘BROTHAR19′.

The two former ‘Birth of A Great Star’ contestants and now budding solo artists each performed a bit of their debut songs “Heaven’s Door” and “Punishment“.

However, the real treat came when they joined forces to form ‘BROTHER19‘ and performed what we’ve all been waiting for, their cover of SISTAR19‘s “Ma Boy“, “Ma Girl“!

Roh Ji Hoon revealed the reason for his return stating, “I returned to the ‘Birth of A Great Star’ stage in two years for the special reason of hearing the critique of Brave Brothers who wrote the song.” 

Eric Nam shared, “Congratulations. Since today is the ‘Birth of A Great Star 3′ finale, I will anticipate excellent stages.”

Former ‘Birth of a Great Star‘ contestants Roh Ji Hoon and Eric Nam, who have both kicked off their solo debuts, are coming together to collaborate for a performance that should prove to be quite interesting to watch!

Roh Ji Hoon hinted at the upcoming collaboration, sharing on his Twitter, “A cut with Eric Nam hyung… Be excited… Collaboration? Hyung what are we going to do!!!! Ah.”

Well, we now know what’s up as it’s been announced that the two singers will be coming together to perform “Ma Girl“. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? If you guessed SISTAR19, you’re right, since this will be their version of “Ma Boy“!

Eric Nam further confirmed the news and revealed the name of their unit as he replied to Roh Ji Hoon, “With Ji Hoon… Oh my god. What do we do! Let’s do our best! BROTHER19.”

This special collaboration will be aired on ‘Birth of a Great Star 3′s March 1st broadcast at 9:55PM KST, so don’t miss it!

Cube Entertainment heartthrobs BTOB and Roh Ji Hoon enjoyed a ‘sweet potato date’ with fans in front of the Cube Cafe on the 29th.

Despite the snowy weather, over 200 fans lined up to meet BTOB and Roh Ji Hoon, and were gifted with roasted sweet potatoes and 2013 calendars. BTOB also showed off their barista skills by also making coffee for the fans. Roh Ji Hoon also swooned the ladies in attendance with a cover of Ra.D‘s “I’m In Love” in the spirit of Christmas.

The solo singer revealed at his recent fan meeting, ‘Oh! Carol‘, that he would be releasing a special version of his MV soon. This newly released video focuses on Roh Ji Hoon’s dance moves, including hisinfamous belt dance.

Roh Ji Hoon confesses to going on an amusement park date with a girl group member

The soloist was asked to share an ‘unforgettable Christmas memory’, to which he revealed, “I sent her a random text because I wanted to spend Christmas with someone, but she actually agreed to the date.” 

When asked by MC Hyun Young if there was any skinship involved, he replied, “There was some skinship when we were on rides because she’d get nervous and slightly lean on me.” 

Roh Ji Hoon kept her name under wraps, however, reasoning, “Unfortunately, we never ended up dating. I don’t see her at all presently.”

Cube Entertainment to hold their second ‘United Cube Concert’ tour

Cube Entertainment has just told allkpop about their upcoming ‘United Cube Concert’ in 2013.

Home to 4minute, B2ST, G.NA BtoB, and Roh Ji Hoon, Cube artist will surely be showcasing once in a lifetime performances and experience for fans.

United Cube Concert started in August 2011 for the first time and after an explosive feedback from fans, United Cube is back this year starting in Nanjing, China on January 26th, Seoul on February 2nd, and Yokohama on February 21st.

[Review][Single] Roh Ji Hoon “Punishment”

 

When I saw Roh Ji Hoon‘s debut teaser photos- the ones of him sitting on a couch with a girl wrapped around him, I was curious to see where this ‘bad boy’ concept would go. Cube Entertainment, the team behind envelope-pushing acts such as G.Na, 4minute, HyunA and Troublemaker, has had their share of hits and misses with sexy concepts, so this could have gone either way. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a miss, for one big reason- it feels like a boy band song, not a solo.

Look, I love boy bands, I really do. And Roh Ji Hoon has a great voice.  However, “Punishment” (created by Brave Brothers) could have gone to Teen Top and it wouldn’t sound all that different from how it sounds now, except it might have a rap break (see “To You“, also by Brave Brothers).

What makes Roh Ji Hoon’s solo all that different from the “Lover Boy” by Cube’s own BtoB, a seven member band? Soloists are dominating right now, so why take a perfectly good soloist and give him a song that sounds like it should belong to a group- doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

All of that said, it’s a decent song. I don’t dislike it, I just feel like I’ve heard it three times already this year- the previously mentioned “To You” and “Lover Boy”, as well as SISTAR‘s “Alone“- which, like “To You” and “Punishment”, is by Brave Brothers. Kudos to Roh Ji Hoon himself- he seems a lot more confident on stage now than he did when he was on ‘Birth of a Great Star‘, and his dancing has improved by leaps and bounds. Here’s hoping Cube can figure out what to do with him as a soloist soon.

Roh Ji Hoon receives his “Punishment” on the streets of Hongdae

Rookie soloist Roh Ji Hoon recently received his “punishment” on the streets of Hongdae as he carried out his promise for ‘Shindong’s Shimshimtapa‘.

The singer recently participated in the airing of the radio program where he lost while taking part in the ‘Surprise Quiz’ portion of the show, and thus, was assigned a punishment.

The punishment called for the singer to put on a rather silly appearance as he donned children’s ear muffs and put on disguises to make it look as if his nose was runny. The singer then had to take to the busy streets of Hongdae and perform his debut track “Punishment” along with the sexy “belt dance” despite his hilarious appearance.

Even though it may have been embarrassing, the singer was able to put on a charismatic performance to the chuckle and praises of the the audience who gathered to watch the rookie.

Noh Ji Hoon releases jacket images for “Punishment”

Noh Ji Hoon has released jacket images for his debut song “Punishment“.

The concept images for his ‘The Next Big Thing‘ was released through SNS, and show him with a ‘magnet man’ concept, or a man who attracts women like a magnet. In the photos, he wears a suit and shows off his charms in a blue-toned tunnel, stealing women’s hearts.

Noh Ji Hoon’s teaser for “Punishment” has been released through music programs, and the 10 second teaser gained curiosity from fans. He became the #1 searched term on various portal sites. He also released another teaser through his official SNS on November 6th at noon KST. The teaser shows him tied in a chair, featuring actress Yoo In Young to showcase a sensual, mysterious mood.

“Punishment” is a modern pop dance song written by the mega hit producer Brave Brothers. It combines the producer’s addicting melody with Noh Ji Hoon’s charming voice for an impressive tune.

As mentioned previously, ‘Birth of a Great Star‘ contestant, Noh Ji Hoon, is getting ready to make his official debut as a solo dance artist!

Cube Entertainment has released a second video teaser of the singer titled ‘Punishment‘ for his upcoming release “Next Big Thing“.

In the teaser, Noh Ji Hoon is tied and blindfolded to a chair.  A beautiful lady visits him, eventually removing the blindfold.  What happened to put him in this predicament is not revealed, but we are certainly intrigued.

Recall that in Noh Ji Hoon’s first teaser, his fellow labelmates HyunA, G.NA, and BTOB made an appearances with the BTOB members being sent on a search to find the whereabouts of Noh Ji Hoon, who is made out to be quite a womanizer through this teaser as the girls describe him as a guy who seems to know just exactly what to do and know exactly what they’re thinking.

G.NA spots a promotional bus for Noh Ji Hoon’s debut

It seems with soloist and former ‘Birth of a Great Star‘ contestant Noh Ji Hoon about to make his debut, Cube Entertainment has taken to the streets to promote their upcoming act with buses wrapped with the singer’s photo as well as new release details.

One of these promotional buses was spotted by fellow labelmate G.NA, who tweeted, “Today is Vice President Noh’s wedding! Congratulations! It’s fascinating.. On the way to the wedding ceremony, our Noh Noh Noh Ji Hoon has been spotted keke. Please give him your interest and love! ^^”

Along with her tweet, the singer attached a photo of a bus wrapped with Noh Ji Hoon’s album photos and details, drawing attention to the rookie’s upcoming debut.

As reported earlier, Noh Ji Hoon will be making his debut on November 7th with his title track “Being Punished” and album ‘The Next Big Thing‘.

BTOB, G.Na, Noh Ji Hoon, & A Pink reveal Chuseok greeting photos dressed in hanboks

A few days ago, G.NA, BTOB, and Noh Ji Hoon (‘Birth of a Great Star‘ contestant), released Chuseok greeting video clips. Since then, the popular artists have also released Chuseok holiday official greeting photos.

G.NA looked elegant and graceful in her pink hanbok and had a benign smile in her pictures. Along with the picture, she left a message to her fans, “I hope all of my fans have a warm Chuseok with their families and make their wishes upon the full moon. Also, I hope that along with our Cube family, everyone else has happy and laughter-filled days. My wish for this Chuseok is to become loved by all people worldwide. I’ll try my best to make this come true, so please cheer for me.”

BTOB, who is promoting their song, “WOW” and perfectly showed the 90′s in their performances, posed playfully in their photos. Bang Shi Hyuk, David Oh, & Noh Ji Hoon take a ‘family portrait’ for “Cosmopolitan”

‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine featured a special ‘family portrait’ with some castmates from MBC‘s “Birth of a Great Star“!

Mentor Bang Shi Hyuk participated in an interview and photoshoot with his two students, Noh Ji Hoon and David Oh.

Fans immediately noticed the warm atmosphere of the shot, and commented on how their smiles bore a strong resemblance to one another’s.

Bang Shi Hyuk said, “As a life senior, I always want to give them advice. Since David Oh is a singer-songwriter, I hope to create an environment for him that allows him to pursue what he wants.”
