FT Island Lee Hong Gi′s Photo Book for ′Passionate Goodbye′ Tops Tower Records Book Charts

Lee Hong Gi′s photobook for his first movie Passionate Goodbye has been bombing Tower Records′ sales charts.

According to Tower Records on June 10, the photobook for Passionate Goodbye, starring Lee Hong Gi, ranked no. 1 on the book and magazine chart.

Passionate Goodbye premiered in Korea on May 30, and soon after, on June 7, premiered in Japan under the new title Phoenix, the Song of Promise. The photo book contains stills from the film as well as previously unrevealed behind the scenes cuts.

In the meantime, FT Island will be releasing its third studio album in Japan, Rated-FT, on June 12, and from June 15 will embark on its arena tour.

Hong Gi of FT Island makes his screen debut, saying, “I couldn’t sleep well on the day before the preview”

“I couldn’t sleep well last night!” said Lee Hong Gi of FTIsland, having just made his screen debut. He said his excitement after the preview held at Lotte Cinema on May 21 accounted for his sleeplessness.

Lee says: “Because it’s my first movie, I feel more nervous than when announcing a new album. I was too nervous to sleep well. I asked senior actors about this and they responded that the more previews of your movies you attend, the more nervous you feel. While watching the preview, I felt I’m lacking at acting, but that lack was made up for with the help of the great work of the director and the crew.”

Lee played an “idol” singer in the movie. He says, “When I saw the screenplay for the first time, I thought I couldn’t do it because I had no experience of the knid of hospice where the story takes place, but after reading the screenplay through, I made up my mind to try because I felt like this movie would be important to the rest of my life.”

The movie Good Bye Party is kind of a human drama. The story is about young singer who is sentenced to do community service at a hospice and is deeply disturbed by  spending time with terminally ill patients. The movie is to be released on May 30.

Lee Hong Gi of FT Island says, “I want to delete those videos on the Internet of me singing off pitch”

Lee Hong Gi appeared on MBC’s Gold Fishery Radio Star on May 22 and related his regrets about an incident from his past: “I want to delete all video clips of my performance at the 2008 Music Awards that are on the Internet, I was singing off pitch.”

His excuse was “I had performed in a concert for three consecutive days before the awards, and I was so sick that day that my bed sheets were soaked with my sweat, which drove my managers crazy. I listened to the sound track for the awards ceremony because the concert left me no time. My agency insisted that I prerecord my voice, but this was rejected by an official of the broadcasting company, so I had no choice but to perform live.”

Yoon Jong Shin said the incident threw audience into utter confusion. Hong responded, saying, “I got off rhythm and was losing my voice. It was a very hard time. Super Junior members sent text messages to cheer me up. Especially, Gang In said, ‘You were the best on stage.’ That was really helpful to me.”

FT Island’s Lee Hong Gi Doesn′t Enjoy Being Compared to CN Blue

Although close friends and family members in the same agency, FT Island’s Lee Hong Gi implied that he doesn’t like being compared to CN Blue.

On May 8, the cast of the movie, Passionate Goodbye interviewed each other on SBS’ One Night of TV Entertainment.

As Lee Hong Gi prepared himself for the questions to come, co-star Ma Dong Seok mentioned, “At the set, last time, I joked around and said, ‘Do you know Lee Hong Gi? CN Blue,’ and his expression wasn’t that great.”

Appearing a little startled, Lee Hong Gi slowly explained that there are many people who find CN Blue and FT Island similar.

“We’re actually really close, but when people start jokingly comparing, it’s a little...” trailed off Lee Hong Gi, unsure of how to finish his sentence. Luckily, Ma Dong Seok nodded his head, and replied, “I think I know what you mean.”

Lee Hong Gi made it clear that there were no hard feelings by saying that CN Blue and FT Island are very close to each other.”

Meanwhile, Passionate Goodbye will premiere on May 30.

Hongki shoots a sharp answer back at netizen who reported him for a traffic violation

Hongki answered back against a netizen who reported him for a traffic violation.

On April 11, Hongki had snapped a photo with his new scooter on Twitter and wrote, “Puhehehehe my new friend!!!! The color is of course going to be yellow“. However, a few people noticed that in the photo, the scooter was lacking a license plate.

Soon enough, a post was made online titled, “I reported F.T. Island‘s Lee Hongki for violating proper vehicle management and street traffic laws.” The netizen pointed out that he had no license plate on the scooter and said, “He broke the vehicle management laws. Since he drove the scooter without a license plate, I reported him to the Seoul Police Department Traffic Control Safety Division.” He explained that according to the new laws since 2011, even small two-wheeled vehicles with less than a 50 cc tank must be driven with a license plate.

However, Hongki had his own thoughts on the issue. He tweeted, “Hey, you keyboard finger warriors. If you’re going to insult me, do it after you conduct proper research. I bought it yesterday, so of course I didn’t receive the license plate yet. If you apply for a license and put it on within 15 days, it’s okay. And you might not be able to tell because it’s dark. Even though it’s in front of a red light, the scooter was parked in front of the store^^. Anyway, you lunge on with your life“.

In a phone call with Sports Seoul, his label said, “We haven’t heard that he was reported yet. He just snapped a photo because he wanted to show the new scooter he bought to his fans. Hongki is currently in Beijing for the Asia tour.“

F.T. Island’s 2009 release “Jump Up” ranks #1 on Taiwanese music chart

F.T. Island‘s first mini album ‘Jump Up‘ literally jumped up to take the top spot on a Taiwanese music chart

This may not seem like a big deal at first, but ‘Jump Up’ was released back in 2009. According to Taiwanese music site Omusic, it managed to rank #1 on the Korea-Japanese Album Daily Broadcast Ranking for April 9. Additionally, the title song “You’re a Bad Girl” from ‘Jump Up’ also ranked #1 on the Song Daily Chart.

It’s the first time that a song that was released 4 years ago managed to rank #1 on the Omusic charts. Congratulations to F.T. Island!

FT Island’s Lee Hong Ki: “I Dreamed About International Marriage Once.”

The “global” version of MBC’s popular variety show, “We Got Married” held a press conference on March 28 with its stars, FT Island’s Lee Hong Ki and his pretend “wife,” Japanese actress Fujii Mina, and 2PM’s Taecyeon with his partner, Taiwanese idol, Wu Ying Jie.

During the press conference, Lee Hong Ki revealed he dreamed about international marriage once, wondering what it would be like. The singer was enthusiastic about the chance to experience what he only imagined through the new variety program, even though it is not a real marriage. He explained he would not have done this show if it was not about international marriages.

The singer discussed some of the challenges of an international marriage, saying, “I knew there were going to be cultural differences because I also promoted in Japan but there were still so many things I didn’t know.” Lee Hong Ki remained positive, however, stating, “It’s fun speaking in a mix of Korean and Japanese,” and “It’s going to be a good experience.

Lee Hong Ki also revealed his first impression of his partner, Fujii Mina, saying “I was surprised at first because she was so pretty.” Although the Japanese actress is two years older, Lee Hong Ki stated that he actually prefers older woman.

“We Got Married- Global Edition” will premier Saturday, April 7 across 21 countries with a total run of 15 episodes. MBC will also release behind-the-scenes footage everyone Sunday after the broadcast on YouTube.

F.T. Island throws double birthday party for Hongki and Jonghoon

F.T. Island celebrated the birthday sof their oldest hyungs!

The birthdays for Jonghoon and Hongki are March 7th and March 2nd respectively, and since both days are in close proximity, it looks like the member of F.T. Island decided to celebrate their birthdays together!

In celebration, Hongki tweeted the above picture with the words “The two people with March birthdays kekeke. Thanks“.  The cake has 24 candles, as both the leader and main vocal are turning 24 in Korea. Strangely enough, even though it’s Hongki and Jonghoon’s birthday, Minhwan seems to be the one wearing Hongki’s birthday hat.

Jonghoon also had another birthday celebration from his makeup salon, and he wrote, ”I got makeup done at Kiele and got an early birthday celebration ^^♥”.

Hongki is considering international marriage?

F.T. Island‘s Hongki has left his international fans’ hopes soaring with his latest tweet!

The idol revealed a selca above, making quite a statement with the letters on the hat, but it was his words that actually stole the show.

Hongki wrote, “International… Marriage… Should I try it”. If you’re just reading about this, many international fans have already beaten you to it, forming a line with comments like “Yes!”, “With me!”, “Oppa, marry me!”

However, there were also those who read more into his comment and pondered whether this was Hongki possibly hinting at joining the ‘world version’ of ‘We Got Married‘.

Before he created disorder among international fans, he also didn’t forget to leave a supportive message for his friend SHINee‘s Minho with a picture of the two (below) as he asked, ”Who is this simpleton [can also be translated to 'ugly']? Keke. ‘Dream Girl’ daebak!!” With Hongki also adding his support, it seems like celebrities might be even more excited about SHINee’s comeback than the actual fans are, if that’s even possible!

Jonghoon reveals a warm moment between Hongki and Minhwan

F.T. Island‘s Jonghoon snapped a warm moment between Hongki and maknae Minhwan.

On December 19th Jonghoon took to his Twitter and wrote, “Good Hongki & Minhwan. Cleaning his ears. :)“. In the photo that was attached to the tweet, Minhwan and Hongki were dressed comfortably. Minhwan was resting his head against Hongki’s lap while holding a cellphone, he was obviously at ease as he closed his eyes and let Hongki clean his ears. Hongki himself seemed focused on his work as well.

The photo caused fans to smile at the cuteness, and they commented, “Aw, Minhwan is being babied“, “They look so close“, and “It’s hyung and baby brother“.

F.T. Island‘s Hongki has dyed his hair silver.

A few hours ago, he took to Twitter and wrote, “Preparing for a transformation“. About three hours after that, he wrote, “Tada Evangelion” and attached a photo of himself with his new hair color. The second tweet possibly alluded to either characters Kaworu or Rei from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, as both characters both sport silver-blue hair.

F.T. Island’s Hongki and Super Junior’s Heechul get nail art for the Holidays

F.T. Island‘s Hongki and Super Junior‘s Heechul showed off their close friendship.

The pair are known to be close friends, and they proved this by getting matching nail art done. Hongki first tweeted a photo of his Christmas-and-rock-star themed nails, writing, “Ready for Christmas!!!“.

A few moments later, he tweeted what seems to be his thumbs and Heechul’s fingers, showing off a nail that had animated versions of Hongki and Heechul on each finger. He tweeted, “As a couple with Heechul-hyung… My hand has Hee-nim and hyung’s hand has Hong Star“.

F.T. Island’s Hongki steps down from his MC position on ‘M! Countdown’

F.T. Island‘s Hongki has decided to step down as the MC for ‘M! Countdown‘.

FNC Entertainment revealed on December 13th, “The staff of ‘M! Countdown’ requested that he be absent temporarily only for 2 weeks and then return to his position. His stepping down was unavoidable because of his current activities. We had previously sought out a way to make it work because of the pleas from the staff, but we’ve told them of the decision due to his busy schedule.”

Currently, Hongki is filming a movie, and also has F.T. Island’s Asia tour and Japanese promotions on top of it. F.T Island is also currently scheduled for the ‘TAKE FTISLAND‘ concert in Taiwan on the 15th and 16th as well.

F.T. Island’s Hongki confesses CNBLUE’s Jonghyun received plastic surgery

F.T. Island‘s HongkiCNBLUE‘s Jonghyun.

F.T. Island recently appeared on MBC Music’s ‘All the K-pop‘ and there Hongki had a slip of the tongue and revealed that Jonghyun received plastic surgery.

On this day, MC Park Jae Min received the results from the questionnaires that were given to plastic surgeons and through this it has been revealed that each member of F.T. Island has never received plastic surgery.

Leader Jonghoon commented, “Not only us, but CNBLUE and everyone else in our agency never received plastic surgery.” To this, Hongki made a slip up saying, “Isn’t there someone in CNBLUE? Ah… never mind.”

MC Boom caught Hongki’s slip and quickly questioned him, “Who is the CNBLUE member that received plastic surgery?” To this Hongki confessed, “Lee Jonghyun had plastic surgery on his ears because they were really ugly.”

F.T. Island’s Hongki goes blond for ‘L’Officiel Hommes’

F.T. Island‘s Hongki went blond for the latest issue of fashion magazine ‘L’Officiel Hommes‘, revealed on the 20th.

Hongki commented on the lighter look, “I’ve never had an ‘all-back’ hairstyle, so this is new to me.”

The members of F.T Island went with a retro concept in this issue. Leader Jonghun showed off his flawless body, which he works hard to maintain, and Jaejin went for a ’60s look, while Seunghyun opted for an edgy hairstyle and coat.

F.T. Island is working on a new song?

On October 18th, F.T. Island‘s Hongki informed fans that they’re working on a new song.

He wrote, “Huh?? Oh, yeah, that’s right. I’ve called everyone over and we’re writing a song together” and uploaded a photo of members Jaejin and Seunghyun. Even though the screen glare whited out the computer screen, Hongki’s words hint that they’re working on a song together. The shirtless member in the back caught immediate attention of fans, and fans rushed to comment back to Hongki.

They tweeted back, “Why is Seunghyun shirtless!“, “Are you sure Jaejin is actually working?” and “Where are the other members?”

Seems like F.T. Island is already at work on their next song!
